Survey Camp
Introduction: WCTM had orgainised a survey camp for Civil 5th Semester Students from 14th Oct. to 20th Oct.2011 at Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary Park (Gurgaon)
Aim: The basic aim for this survey camp is to know the various work carried out in the industrial field by survey, which includes determining the topography of a particular area with the help of survey work, map study and reconnaissance work.
Overview: In this survey camp Topography of a portion of Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary park has been determined with the help of various survey instruments. The methods used in this survey works are
- Traversing
- Leveling
- Contouring
Instruments Used:
- Plane Table
- Auto-Level
- Theodolite
- Measuring Tape (for measuring distance)
Procedures: All the student of Civil 5th Semester divided in 5 groups. All groups had allotted different stations for survey works.
For first 2 days, Traversing work has been carried out to determine the actual plan of the area whose topography is to be determined.
Then Leveling work proceed to determine the reduced level of each stations, with the help of given benchmark, after that reduced level of different points of specified spacing with reference to each station has been taken to draw the contour map on the sheet. After drawing contour map, Topography of the area has been determined
Practical Utility: By conducting this survey camp, student are now able to know that how survey works carried out in the industrial field, and now they can do survey work with confidence in the practical field.
This camp help students to explore various things in survey.
Conclusion: Now students are able to do leveling, Traversing and contouring works.
